Busy Week Ahead

Just a quick note to remind everyone of our busy week ahead.
Tuesday 10/28 - is wear RED day to celebrate Red Ribbon Week
Wednesday 10/29 - Author Jennifer Ericsson visits
Friday 10/31 - Halloween assembly and Halloween Parade

I am planning on trying to keep a regular schedule as much as possible this week, but due to some of the events we may not get to everything I have planned. In this case, homework, most likely math, may change especially Wednesday.

Hope all is well for everyone. Feel free to comment any time!

Everyday Math Resources

How exciting! We have a Student Reference Book online that will read the text aloud and work through a problem as an example! Along with the EM Games that you can play. I have attached a link to the parent letter explaining everything you need to know and I will soon be sending home the student's login cards. I can't wait to hear how this works for you!

Reminder Progress Reports are being sent home on Thursday! Please be on the lookout for them in your child's backpack!

First Writings

Our first pieces of writing this year focused on the Writing Trait - Ideas. We interviewed our classmates and wrote up our interviews focused on our main idea (our classmate). Below are some examples of our finished products.

Testing Update

As of today we are done testing! Some students need to make-up a few of the test sessions that they missed if they were absent, but other than that we are done! It has been along two weeks, but the girls have worked hard! I am looking forward to moving on in our curriculum. It seems like we had just started going and then we needed to change things up...hopefully now we can regain our momentum and keep the ball rolling! Have a good weekend. Enjoy the beautiful fall weather and the Pumpkin Regatta (maybe I will see you there)!

Diving into Reading

Yesterday information about our new reading incentive program for the year was sent home. I would love to get 100% participation. Every night you are expected to read for homework - so simply fill in the "Dive Log" as well as your reading calendar and you will get credit. The reading incentive program counts number of days read so every 25 days you should be able to turn in a sheet and get a new one. Please remember to read and turn in those sheets!

OOPS!!!

So on Friday I posted that the field trip was Tuesday, but it is actually on Wednesday! Our chaperones were chosen from the names bucket today and they are Irene's mom and Hannah KB's mom. Thank you for all of our volunteers.  We will also be going on many other field trips throughout the year and we will need many more chaperones. If you were not chosen this time please volunteer again! :)
