Welcome Back!

September 2009

Welcome to the new school year! I hope that everyone is as rested and excited as I am to begin this new school year!

Parents, allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Jill Rioux.  For the past seven years, I have been teaching at Bartlett Elementary School. My first year here I was the Special Education Teacher. Over the past six years, I have taught as a third and/or fourth grade classroom teacher and had a wonderful experience. I learned many things along with my classes and I am now ready to expand my learning with another group of incoming third graders. All 25 of us! My formal education consists of a B.S. of Education from the State University of New York, College at Geneseo and a M. Ed. in Counseling at Rivier College in Nashua, NH.  Aside from formal classes, I have participated in many workshops and conferences that have enlightened me in the various areas of teaching including reading, writing and mathematics.  I truly enjoy my work as an educator and look forward to working with you and your child during the upcoming school year. There are no required supplies to purchase. I will provide each student with pencils, markers, erasers, glue sticks, crayons, etc. If you would like to donate items to the class we are always looking for Lysol wipes and tissues, especially as the winter months approach and the common cold is inevitable.   We appreciate all that you do to support your child’s education, through attendance at conferences and meetings to reading the school notices; you provide a connection with the school and your child’s daily activities and progress.

Boys and Girls, I know you cannot wait to return to school!  It has been a busy summer and I am sure that you all have wonderful things to share with your new classmates and me!  Of course, you have been practicing your reading all summer too, right? Super!  I am very anxious to begin as well; I have read a few books this summer, but I’ve been rather busy enjoying my time home with Owen!  We will be beginning the school year with a few lessons on how to make our classroom run smoothly and keep us organized all year long.  I love it when my students give me their best effort because that is what I will always do for you.  No one is perfect, but the best you can do is all that I ask for.  As long as you treat your classmates and teachers with respect and follow the class rules, we will have a wonderful year of learning together!  Enjoy your last few days and I will see you all soon!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Rioux
